Are You Still Using the Antiquated Retin A or Retinol?

Are You Still Using the Antiquated Retin A or Retinol?

Not all forms of Vitamin A are created equal. If you are still using Retin A or Retinol then it is time to make the switch to the more up-to-date version called encapsulated retinaldehyde, like the kind found in Forget Beauty products.

The Lowdown on Retinol

Retin A, Retinol, and trentinoin all cause irritation, and inflammation in your skin. Your skin can peel and flake for long periods of time leading to dehydrated tissue. This irritation and dehydration occurs because the Retin A degrades our skin barrier leaving it weak and not able to hold in hydration. This also means it’s not able to protect from outside aggressors.

When your skin is inflamed it leads to collagen breakdown, which is exactly the opposite of why we wanted to use the Retin A in the first place🤦🏻‍♀️. It can lead to long term sensitivity and thin skin. With all this inflammation, our skin actually ages faster…again not what we thought was going to happen.

Retin A actually needs to be converted twice in your skin to be effective and it is during that conversion that the irritation and inflammation occur. The higher the percentage of the retinol may appear to make the product more effective yet it actually makes it more irritating and inflammatory for your skin.

The Vitamin A You Want

The most superior form of Vitamin A is the encapsulated retinaldehyde. Because of its encapsulation or coating, it has the most effective delivery system. It is able to get to the dermis of your skin while keeping the vitamin A stable. Once it gets there it is able to attach onto a vitamin A receptor and is given to the cells as it is needed. This is so important because it gives your skin the maximum efficacy all without creating inflammation or overstimulation.

Remember Inflammation = Aging.

The encapsulated retinaldehyde that Forget Beauty uses has the most bio available form of Vitamin A. It is very powerful, even more than Retinol, but very gentle on the skin. It only needs to be converted once in the skin to be effective, eliminating that irritation and inflammation.

Here are Some Benefits of Using Encapsulated Retinaldehyde:

  • Promotion of collagen and elastin
  • Improves your skin texture and tone
  • Regulation of cellular turnover (this slows as we age)
  • Increase cellular ATP to give your skin the best circulation so your skin glows
  • Supports and controls your oil activity
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Super beneficial for acne prone skin

The Bottom Line

Because the encapsulated retinaldehyde works in the dermis and is stored until it is needed, it works to create healthy new cells which replaces the skin on the top outer layer of dead skin cells. Some people need to start slow, using a retinaldehyde product every three days and then possibly working it into every night. Even if you are using this every third day, you are still getting the best benefit of the product.

Forget Beauty has two formulations of encapsulated retinaldehyde to choose from for the healthiest smoothest skin. Check out Empowered Collagen Revival Serum and Harmonized Clarifying Serum. And, as always, feel free to ask me any questions you may have about what product might be right for you!
